UPDATED: Cheap Move Cryptic – Bait & Switch on the Dilithium Weekend, Cryptic Frost Confused

New STO Overlord SalamiInferno has decreed the weekend be extended to a week long event, due to the poor communication.  We thank him.  Still sucks losing the bonus dilithium on marks though.

Another fine moment in Star Trek Online quality control, or an intentional bait & switch move?  After allowing marks and contraband* to earn the 50% bonus conversion value, Cryptic has removed those bonuses even after confirming they would remain.

STO-BAIT-AND-SWITCH

For the past several days the Blog has read:

  • Everywhere else in the game: (including turning in Marks/Neural Processors/Cybernetic Implants, etc.)
    • 50% Bonus Dilithium Ore

Now after a refresh, and several hundred angry posts it reads:

  • Everywhere else in the game
    • 50% Bonus Dilithium Ore

I fully understand if this was a mistake on the part of @LaughingTrendy or the person who wrote the marketing piece itself, or approved it prior to being published.  Serious lack of professionalism.

CrypticFrost just posted:

The bug is with the original announcement, not the way things are operating. Those projects are not supposed to be affected from what I’ve been told.

A little confusing Mr. Frost.  OK the blog post was wrong, but it’s not supposed to be that way – WTF?

Professionalism. Well done Cryptic, well done.

*contraband may work – some have stated that the reward shows up on completed tasks

  1. Yet another kit the nuts from the STO Dev team! How much more of this shit are we going to have to take before someone from PWE fires these morons in charge!

    1. I don’t blame the dev team – the implement business decisions from the top down. Borticus isn’t the issue here, neither is smirk or laughingtrendy.

This was a colossal fuck up. 1.) the didn’t communicate the nerf, they obfuscated it. 2.) they didn’t review the original posting. 3.) they (as of 1215am) didn’t apologize.

Like you I’d like to see someone take ownership of this.
